K-8 Teacher Education Moves to Flexible Delivery System

Consider the Distributive Learning in Teacher Education (DLiTE) Program at Bemidji State University's Center for Extended Learning. According to the Department of Education, 90 million adult Americans returned to the classroom in 1999, up from the 58 million reported in 1991. Bemidji State University, located in Bemidji, Minnesota, responded to that need and with the help of other stakeholders, developed a K-8 elementary education program designed specifically for rural students and urban students who for various reasons cannot attend a campus-based teacher education program. The program allows a flexible delivery system that will accommodate future growth and technology enhancements. You can find more information at the DLiTE Program web site.
