Minnesota 's electronic portfolio exceeds 50,000 users

The nation's first statewide electronic portfolio system

The nation's first statewide electronic portfolio system now exceeds over 50,000 users. eFolio Minnesota was launched by Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system in May of 2003.

The electronic portfolio is designed to allow Minnesota students, teachers and job seekers to create their own Internet-based portfolios and showcase their achievements.

"eFolio Minnesota users can now showcase their accomplishments using this electronic system which builds a Web site demonstrating their achievements and reinforcing our commitment to help Minnesotans succeed," said Linda Baer, senior vice chancellor for academic and student affairs for the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities.

Recently, it was announced that state education paraprofessionals will also using eFolio Minnesota to meet Minnesota requirements for No Child Left Behind by creating a Para eFolio. This portfolio will translate requirements into competencies. According to Barbara Stahl, Minnesota Department of Education staff development specialist for special education, "This is an exciting opportunity for us to help the paraprofessional employee document their talents skills and abilities, this may assist them in meeting the requirements for No Child Left Behind."

Roberta Moorhouse, an instructor in the marketing managements program at South Central College stated, "We have incorporated eFolio into a course requirement in our department." "Students must complete an eFolio containing a variety of components that reflect their experiences in the program, as well as many of their life experiences. "

Minnesota State Colleges and Universities developed the system with support from state and federal agencies. More information is available about eFolio Minnesota at www.efoliominnesota.com.
